Each completed run tips a barrel-drum minute register forward one notch. The final station punches the finished hour on a twelve-hour card, and at the top of each hour the matching bell of a twelve-bell carillon rings. Read the ball for seconds, the drum for minutes, and the bells and punch card for the hour.
